It depends on the sport and the position.
NFL: Offensive players will score points for offensive plays, regardless of position. For example, if a wide receiver throws a touchdown pass, they will receive the appropriate amount of points. However, offensive players will not receive points for defensive plays.
NBA: All players score points in any category.
MLB: Players listed as pitchers will not be awarded points for their batting statistics. Players listed at other positions will not be awarded any points for pitching.
NHL: Goalies will not be awarded points in categories outside of the goalie position. And players in other positions will not be awarded any points for playing goalie.
EPL and UCL: Goalkeepers will receive points for goalkeeper specific events and the general scoring events. Field players will not receive points for goalkeeper unique events should they play in goal for any reason during a match.
